Erik Mann heads the guitar department at Edinboro University in Northwest Pennsylvania, where he teaches majors in Classical Guitar Performance and Music Education. He also serves as adjunct professor of Guitar Literature and Guitar Pedagogy at the Cleveland Institute of Music under department head Jason Vieaux. During the summer Erik teaches for the music department of the Pennsylvania Governor’s School of the Arts- a program which draws the most talented high school students from around the state of Pennsylvania. Eight Note
Erik received his bachelors degree from Towson University and his masters degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music. He has studied extensively with Jason Vieaux, John Holmquist and Ronald Pearl. He has also studied in master classes and lessons with: David Russell, the Assads, the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet and the Brazilian Guitar Quartet, as well early music performance practice with lutenists Paul O’Dette, Robert Barto, Toyohiko Satoh, and many others. Further education has included participation in music workshops across the United States on such diverse topics as: performance practice on the guitar and lute, teaching youth at risk, and technical and musical development on the classical guitar. An active member of his community, Erik develops and implements outreach programs to help raise interest in classical music. Erik Mann can regularly be seen performing solo and with various ensembles including the Edinboro University Chamber Players, as well as lecturing about the classical guitar.
